Executive Coaching Services

Individual Leader Coaching

We work in collaboration with key organizational stakeholders and individual coaching clients to outline concrete, inspiring outcomes for the coaching relationship. A typical engagement runs from six to nine months. Below is a sample outline.

Elements of a Typical Executive Coaching Engagement

Pre-Engagment: Meet with organizational stakeholders to discuss the goals for the coaching engagement; client meets with Leading for Good coach to confirm chemistry and fit.
— I.
Kick-Off: Client completes intake survey and worksheets, and reviews coaching guidelines.
— II.
First Month: We spend initial coaching sessions getting to know the client’s history and present context, as well as the client’s learning style and preferences for the co-created partnership; We go slow initially to go fast later around mining, defining, refining and shining two to three concrete, memorable, and inspiring goals for the coaching relationship.
— III.
Assessments: Early in the engagement, we look to raise the client’s awareness of how they are perceived, as well as of the forces influencing how they operate; we select either an interview-based 360 or a research-validated and benchmarked 360 survey tool, such as Leadership Circle Profile or the Center for Creative Leadership Benchmark 360 Suite. We often use additional assessments to further our client’s self-awareness around talents, traits, triggers and work preferences. Most commonly, we offer the Gallup Strengthsfinder, the SCARF Assessment , and/or the Positive Intelligence Assessment.
— IV.
Ongoing Sessions:We hold 1-hour coaching sessions on a bi-monthly cadence; this is frequent enough to maintain momentum and connection, while offering enough space for application in the course of an executive’s demanding schedule. We are continually available to clients between sessions for correspondence and live support.
— V.
Completion: We make space in our final sessions to reflect on and celebrate key insights and progress and how to sustain change efforts, mindsets and habits independently. Often, we will continue to work with clients on a less frequent basis for maintenance.
— VI.

Dyad and Team Coaching

Is your team so focused on business demands that process and relationships get short shrift? Are there hard conversations your team members are avoiding? Are tensions rising to the point that it is getting in the way of the work? We help team members get unstuck so everyone can do their best work without tensions and drama.

We provide team coaching services to dyads and small groups of senior leaders. Often, we work with clients to address the following types of issues:

  • Repair strained relationships among/between leaders

  • Establish new norms for working effectively in a virtual/hybrid environment

  • Forward their thinking on their business and developing a shared vision

  • Differentiate and align different team member's roles and priorities

  • Debrief 360 feedback surveys as a group to gain insights for individual and collective leadership

Our Process:

We typically allow the client context to guide our scope and number of sessions. At times, we may need only 2-3 sessions to resolve an issue; in other cases, a team may benefit from monthly or quarterly coaching sessions with key stakeholders to stay connected and in concert with one another.

Client Case Studies

Client Need: Client had been through a less than optimal exit from a start-up and wanted to take stock of what they had learned before heading into a new CEO role.

Approach: Leading for Good worked with this client for over year as he launched and grew the team and organizational culture. We supported him as a thought partner as he identified how he wanted to approach his work and role, and his early challenges in building the team and company. Designed and facilitated his leadership team’s first retreat around collective strengths and challenges and opportunities in working together.

Results: CEO was able to reset positively for leading the new venture, and grew more assertive in his communication and feedback to team members. He continues to grow and lead the organization successfully and just completed a successful series B round of funding.

Results: At the end of the nine month process, the client came to see herself, her organization, and her work with fresh eyes and happily re-engaged with her job with a new appreciation of her unique leadership attributes and preferences. • Leadership Team, High Growth Marketing Consultancy

Approach: Leading for Good provided quarterly coaching sessions for founders and senior leaders to air frustrations and hear one another’s perspectives on needs and priorities. In addition, we designed and facilitated a team retreat to define company mission and values and celebrate key milestones in the company’s history.

Results: Leadership articulated a mission and values they felt proud of and the corresponding company culture and practices they would encourage. She created a non-judgmental and safe space for me to think more strategically about where I wanted to go and who I wanted to be as a newly transitioning C-Suite leader. I made significant progress on a portfolio of goals and feel both more confident and relaxed as well. Her approach to working with clients helped me to get value not just from our coaching sessions, but also from her holistic support and thoughtful follow up.”

Sylvia Herrera, Chief Strategy Officer, Venus Media Group

  • “I was lucky to work with Jen at two points in my career, while working at two different social impact organizations. Jen is a warm, positive person and I instantly connected with her…Jenn helped me think differently about my work environment and the role I want to play in my organization and my field. She is incredibly knowledgeable about different frameworks and tools that help you make sense of your environment and your actions, and she problem solves with you to get to the next step you are seeking to take. Thanks to Jenn, I instituted small changes in my day to day work habits that helped me engage with my team and deliver on our immediate projects, and I implemented big changes in my conception of what it was I wanted to do in the world and how. The social impact sector can be a challenging space in which to make your career. The issues are complex and thorny, organizational resources are often slim, and the workload can feel relentless - having a coach like Jenn to help you navigate your path is incredibly helpful!”

One of her best qualities was distilling what was important from our conversations and moving the ball forward. She also routinely offered up concepts and ideas that were creative and innovative, helping me see things in ways I hadn't thought of before. In short, she was the consummate professional and it made me feel incredibly valued and satisfied as a client. I could not recommend Jennifer more highly.”

Client Need: During the height of the pandemic, a growing start-up needed more employee development for its virtual workforce. Employees were not having water cooler conversations, and many less tenured employees were not getting enough opportunities to observe and learn from more tenured, senior team members on both a formal and informal basis.

Approach: Leading for Good interviewed the leadership team, diagnosed the highest priority themes and topics to address skill, leadership and teaming gaps, and designed and executed a series of online workshops, team retreats and coaching engagements for leaders.

Result: As a result, we were able to enhance relationships and teaming skills within and across the organization’s different teams. We also furthered the client-facing team’s approach and skills around external Zoom presentations, and acted as an organizational development partner prior to the start-up bringing in a full time HR person. The organization continues to grow and just closed a Series B funding round.
